Our client was a young high school student who was a passenger in her boyfriend's small pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up ran a red light and got hit by a tractor-trailer.  Our client suffered a permanent brain injury which has left her partially paralyzed.  She also sustained internal injuries and multiple fractures.  The insurance company for the driver of the pickup paid its $300,000 policy with no argument.  The fault of the tractor-trailer driver was strongly contested but the insurance carrier for the tractor-trailer agreed to pay $900,000 after a successful mediation during which we argued that the tractor trailer was traveling too fast in the rain in Manassas.
